וילכו הרצים באגרות מיד המלך ושריו בכל ישראל ויהודה וכמצות המלך לאמר בני ישראל שובו אל יהוה אלהי אברהם יצחק וישראל וישב אל הפליטה הנשארת לכם מכף מלכי אשור׃
فَذَهَبَ ٱلسُّعَاةُ بِٱلرَّسَائِلِ مِنْ يَدِ ٱلْمَلِكِ وَرُؤَسَائِهِ فِي جَمِيعِ إِسْرَائِيلَ وَيَهُوذَا، وَحَسَبَ وَصِيَّةِ ٱلْمَلِكِ كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ: «يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، ٱرْجِعُوا إِلَى ٱلرَّبِّ إِلَهِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَإِسْرَائِيلَ، فَيَرْجِعَ إِلَى ٱلنَّاجِينَ ٱلْبَاقِينَ لَكُمْ مِنْ يَدِ مُلُوكِ أَشُّورَ.
