فَخَرَجَ دَاوُدُ لِٱسْتِقْبَالِهِمْ وَأَجَابَ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «إِنْ كُنْتُمْ قَدْ جِئْتُمْ بِسَلَامٍ إِلَيَّ لِتُسَاعِدُونِي، يَكُونُ لِي مَعَكُمْ قَلْبٌ وَاحِدٌ. وَإِنْ كَانَ لِكَيْ تَدْفَعُونِي لِعَدُوِّي وَلَا ظُلْمَ فِي يَدَيَّ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَهُ آبَائِنَا وَيُنْصِفْ».
