А кнезови синова Амонових рекоше Ануну господару свом: Мислиш да је Давид зато послао људе да те потеше, што је рад учинити част оцу твом? А није зато послао Давид к теби слуге своје да промотри град и уходи, па после да га раскопа?
Но князья Аммонитские сказали Аннону, господину своему: неужели ты думаешь, что Давид из уважения к отцу твоему прислал к тебе утешителей? не для того ли, чтобы осмотреть город и высмотреть в нем и после разрушить его, прислал Давид слуг своих к тебе?

فَقَالَ رُؤَسَاءُ بَنِي عَمُّونَ لِحَانُونَ سَيِّدِهِمْ: «هَلْ يُكْرِمُ دَاوُدُ أَبَاكَ فِي عَيْنَيْكَ حَتَّى أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْكَ مُعَزِّينَ؟ أَلَيْسَ لِأَجْلِ فَحْصِ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ وَتَجَسُّسِهَا وَقَلْبِهَا، أَرْسَلَ دَاوُدُ عَبِيدَهُ إِلَيْكَ؟»
