Chazaël ging er dus heen, en nam als geschenk veertig kameellasten met allerlei kostbaarheden van Damascus mee. Bij den godsman aangekomen, maakte hij zijn opwachting, en zeide: Uw zoon Ben-Hadad, de koning van Aram, zendt mij tot u, om u te vragen, of hij van zijn ziekte genezen zal.

וילך חזאל לקראתו ויקח מנחה בידו וכל טוב דמשק משא ארבעים גמל ויבא ויעמד לפניו ויאמר בנך בן הדד מלך ארם שלחני אליך לאמר האחיה מחלי זה׃
فَذَهَبَ حَزَائِيلُ لِٱسْتِقْبَالِهِ وَأَخَذَ هَدِيَّةً بِيَدِهِ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ خَيْرَاتِ دِمَشْقَ حِمْلَ أَرْبَعِينَ جَمَلًا، وَجَاءَ وَوَقَفَ أَمَامَهُ وَقَالَ: «إِنَّ ٱبْنَكَ بَنْهَدَدَ مَلِكَ أَرَامَ قَدْ أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَيْكَ قَائِلًا: هَلْ أُشْفَى مِنْ مَرَضِي هَذَا؟»
و حزائیل برای ملاقات وی رفته، هدیهای بهدست خودگرفت، یعنی بار چهل شتر از تمامی نفایس دمشق. و آمده، به حضور وی ایستاد و گفت: «پسرت، بنهدد، پادشاه ارام مرا نزد تو فرستاده، میگوید: آیا از این مرض خود شفا خواهم یافت؟»
